President’s Message – February 2018

Greetings Everyone!

Now that it is February, June is quickly approaching! Which means that SAFETY 2018 – SAN ANTONIO is almost here!

There are plenty of volunteer opportunities to support the upcoming ASSE Society Professional Development Conference! There are currently three different volunteering areas, which include:

1) Ambassador Program Information

  • Must be an ASSE member
  • Must be a conference registrant
  • Being an integral part of the program by assisting attendees throughout the conference
  • Being visible and providing answers to questions from the attendees
  • Providing additional support to ASSE staff on-site
  • Participation and completion of the Ambassador Team Orientation Webinar that provides helpful hints and information to know prior to arriving at Safety 2018
  • Participating in the Ambassador Team Pep Rally on Sunday, June 3 at the Henry Gonzalez Convention Center
  • Volunteer a minimum of 2 (or 4) hours:
    • Shifts range from 1 to 2 hours on Sunday, June 3 through Tuesday, June 5 of the conference
    • For a minimum of 2 hours, and you are eligible to receive $100 gift certificate to ASSE Store at Safety 2018
    • For a minimum of 4 hours, and you are eligible to receive $250 discount off Safety 2018 registration or a $250 gift certificate to ASSE store at Safety 2018

Complete the online Ambassador Volunteer form at http://asse.safety2018ambassadorvolunteerform.sgizmo.com/s3/.  (The form is due by Thursday, March 1, 2018.)

2) Moderator Program Information

  • Must be an ASSE member
  • Must be a conference registrant
  • Moderate at least three (3) sessions. (Your preferences for sessions will be considered to the extent the preferred sessions are available, but they cannot be guaranteed.)
  • Moderator Responsibilities include:
    • Introducing the speaker(s) – a standard introduction will be provided
    • Providing key information to attendees – for example; location of exits and restrooms
    • Attending the session
  • Attend one training session prior to the first session you moderate
  • Dress code is business or business casual
  • Moderators are eligible to receive the discounted member registration rate of $520 for their participation

3) Region III / South Texas Chapter Booth at Safety 2018

We are looking for volunteers to assist with staffing our booth at the conference! Ideally, we would like it staffed by members of Region III and the South Texas Chapter.

While at the booth, we will be promoting:

  • The Region’s Night Out at Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville on the Riverwalk on Monday, June 4th!
  • The Region III Professional Development Conference in Oklahoma City, OK during August 20th – 22nd!
