Responsibilities:

  • Candidate will enforce OSHA compliance regarding general industry and construction standards which apply to the refinery

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Industrial Psychology, Risk Management, Business, Human Resources, Safety, Public Health, or related field.
  • Eight years’ relevant professional work experience in fleet safety management, OSHA and DOT compliance, including five years’ supervising personnel.
  • Able to use word processing, spreadsheet, database, Visio, safety reporting software, and presentation software.
  • Valid Class “C” Texas Driver’s License consistent with SAWS Driving Policy.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in leading a safety and environmental health department and making significant improvement in safe operations, vehicle safety, reporting and compliance.

Our client, a leading oil and gas company, is seeking qualified candidates to provide full time environmental and safety support to an expanding business unit in the Rocky Mountains. This division is a strategic growth area for the company with operations in New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming. This position will be based in Denver, Colorado.

The expectations for this position are as follows:

  • Ensure air permitting compliance for all facilities and audit compliance status on a periodic basis. Prepare and submit air permit applications for new or modified facilities, all required emission inventories, Title V annual and semi-annual compliance certifications, deviation reports, and other regulatory correspondence for all applicable facilities. Assist with the gathering of activity data necessary to inventory Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions for preparation of the annual CHG inventory.

  • Ensure SPCC Plans are prepared in accordance with 40 CFR Part 112 for all applicable facilities. Conduct annual SPCC training for field operations personnel. Review equipment and secondary containment construction to adherence to facility SPCC Plan.

  • Make all necessary spill and release notifications to all the appropriate state and federal agencies. Provide technical assistance with the cleanup and sampling requirements to ensure compliance with applicable State regulations. Ensure spill and release reports are properly documented in the company incident database. Prepare trend reports for communication to Management of the Division.

  • Prepare and submit water and storm water permit applications for construction, drilling, work over/completion, and production activities. Oversee the compliance activities associated with the authorized discharge permits, including submittal of discharge monitoring reports, pollution prevention plans, and notice of terminations, as appropriate.

  • Provide environmental due diligence support on acquisition and divestiture activities. Review data room materials, research compliance information on State and Federal websites, assist in the preparation of contract language, and conduct Phase I and Phase II field investigations. Identify possible liabilities and associated costs for consideration by the Acquisition/Divestiture Team.

  • Coordinate and/or participate in periodic EH&S audits and inspections. In addition, participate in incident investigations and support the preparation of relevant documentation.

  • Maintain the Division Waste Management Plan to assure currency and applicability. Conduct and document third party waste disposal company audits to determine acceptable use.

  • Represent the Company in industry trade associations to promote the company’s position on EH&S issues. Offer innovative solutions to solve difficult issues in a team environment.

  • Interpret and stay abreast of EH&S regulations and advise Division of the mandated requirements.

Summary of Position:

  • Provide consultation in Occupational Health Risk Management.
  • Travel as part of a team to government and commercial client sites to conduct industrial hygiene, safety and occupational health evaluations and technical assessments. Return to the office to analyze analytical results and write reports. Approximately 40% travel.
  • Provide technical support to office personnel on Environmental Safety and Occupational Health related Issues.
  • Responsible for performing tasks and completing projects of moderate size and complexity.
  • Recognizes and initiates business development opportunities to market Environmental Safety and Occupational Health services to new and existing clients for both industrial and government clients nationwide.
  • Complete technical assignments (both field & office).
  • Assist in the preparation of Health Risk Assessments
  • Assist in performing IH surveys and inputting data into government IH databases.
  • Will operate Industrial Hygiene Monitoring Equipment.
  • Use Computer Databases and Office Programs (MS Access, MS Excel, MS Word)

Basic/Required Qualifications:

  • US Citizen or permanent work status.
  • AS degree in Industrial Hygiene, or related science field or Air Force Bioenvironmental Engineering formal training. BS degree in Industrial Hygiene or Environmental Health and Safety a plus.
  • Experience with providing Air Force Bioenvironmental Engineering support required.
  • 5 years of Industrial Hygiene/Environmental Health and Safety Experience.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to assist and preparing reports.
  • Travel required; flexibility to work outside normal business hours as required.
  • Able to Wear a Respirator (29 CFR 1910.134)
  • Must pass drug test, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy.
